What exactly do we have to be 'proud of'?

Financial ruin?
Government scandal?
Football hooligans?

My point? Why can't you be proud to be where you are from and not like the Royal Family that don't and can't understand how it is to be a regular man on the street. I totally don't understand how it is one or the other with you.

Put it this way you can aspire to be a footballer, or a soldier or whatever... you can't ever EVER become a king unless you are born into that family, So I can totally understand people being proud to be British through the sporting acievements and the likes but not giving a shit about the royals

We should be proud to be British because of the Royal Family, if you're not, and you think they're a waste of space, that's fine. Agree to disagree. I just don't get why they're so disliked. The Royals don't give permission really, the constitution would be pretty much exactly the same if you removed the Royal Family from it. Their powers are all but gone.

The Royal Historical landmarks would be more financially beneficial if we weren't bankrolling the monarchy to live there.
